A Better Day

Things have changed and that's a good thing It's not a problem, it's not a sin I see the world slowly open, slowly offer itself to me And if it's not the same, it's no disaster It's just a movement to something new. And we all want something new Yeah, we all want something new We just don't know how to get it And it's over much too soon. I see my face in the mirror Is it mine or is it glass? Either way it's all I own It's all that keeps me from being you. And we all want something of you Yeah we all want something of you But we don't know how to get it And it's over much too soon. We've all felt that lost elation That cruel deflation When we're told we won't be the one forever But the final sever is a brand new start A brand new start... And we all want something new Yeah, we all want something new But we don't know how to get it And it's over much too soon.

The timing is all wrong and it's easy to give up I wish it was over, that I could move on 'Cos we couldn't be in any more trouble than we already are Waiting for a break that never comes. I want to forget... The thunder is forming, there's rainclouds overhead It's too late to tunnel out in time to move on again I shouldn't wait any longer, the writing is on the wall But I'll bury my head in the sand and hope for best. I want to forget... I'm waiting to tell you now I'm waiting to tell you... I want to forget... When I see you coming around I want to forget, I want to be found I believe you, believe in the sound Waiting to tell you, tell you right now...

She packs up everything she owns And sets off to find a home Feeling so alone Her clothes are on the line And they're frozen in her mind She tells herself she'll be fine. She sets off And on her great adventure She'll cast off All of the reasons that she knew she couldn't stay. There is solace in the night From the service station lights And memories in flight The motorway is blue But I guess she feels marooned In every place she goes through. She sets off...
4.
She told 'em what she wanted To be someone new Never blue They couldn't understand how She'd tapped the furious cold That lurks in every mortal soul. They were asking me: "Is she beautiful?" Well, she's beautiful They were asking me: "Is she beautiful?" Well, of course she's beautiful. So do you see your future As a furious scar Etched in stars? Or can it still be moulded By a surgeon's knife Into the shape of a perfect life? 'Cos you'll be asking me: "Am I beautiful?" Well, you're beautiful You'll be asking me: "Am I beautiful?" Well, of course you're beautiful.

A Better Day 04:15
I don't say much and yet You can read my every thought I try to keep my secrets But still I'm always caught. I don't know why I get so emotional about it I don't know why I get so emotional about it. I feel your patience fading Though you never said as much It could be the weather changing Or I could just be losing touch. I don't know why I get so emotional about it I don't know why I get so emotional about it. 'Cos it could be a wonderful day If only I could get out there It could be a better day If only I could get out there...

We talk, we talk but we don't know what we mean We talk, we talk but we don't say anything We come, we come but we don't go anywhere We stop, we stop but the world moves us on again. Don't say it's nothing, don't say it's nothing I know what I really feel Don't say it's nothing, everything is something I only wanna know it's for real All we do we talk, we talk We talk, we talk but we don't say a thing. We hope, we hope for a better day to come We dream, we dream of a bigger and brighter sun So we talk, we talk 'til no one's in any doubt That we all, we all had nothing to talk about. Don't say it's nothing... I don't even know you, I don't even know you But I feel like I know you so well... Don't say it's nothing...
7.
You think that you don't know me It's not a problem, it's not a sin The thinking draws you under And sucks you in It sucks you in. The rain falls down on Canning Circus now... There's something in the woodshed It stirs in darkness, wakes you up Well, we all have our demons If we're good enough And you're good enough. The rain falls down On Canning Circus now And is this the life? Well, it may be Soon enough now, you will see Summer'll come. And you, you have your journey But in dreaming moments We coincide And we wander to the highway And we hitch a ride. The rain falls down On Canning Circus now And is this the life? Well, it may be Soon enough now, you will see Summer'll come Soon enough now You will see the goodness of summer in me.

Speech is fraught between us We cannot define We can only touch With fingertips Smoothing Intruding. If we must have truth Let it not be named Let us feel it As a heart-choke Imbibe it Not describe it In the darkness There are your eyes And they are smiling.

Take My Word 07:15
I can only say I didn't mean to hurt you... I can only pray That you take my word...

The Edge 04:45
There's a man at the edge of the table The cat has escaped from the cradle. I stand on the edge Stand on the edge and look over I look over. The wind's whipping up a tornado The cloud's coming in Could be fatal. But I stand on the edge Stand on the edge and look over What's over the edge? What's over the edge I don't know. I stand on the edge Stand on the edge and look over What's over the edge? What's over the edge I don't know And I'll never know 'til I jump.
